Fall sure gives me all the feels...

The weather, the colors, the food,

the WRITING CONTESTS like

This is my first time participating in this event,

and I am incredibly thankful to those who have brought this contest to life.

the generous donors of the fabulous prizes, and those of you taking the time to read my entry below...

DING-DONG! THE WITCH IS FED

(Art Note: A young boy sees an elderly neighbor unloading groceries in her driveway.)

 

“Would you like some help?” I asked the old lady

Who lived at the house down the street. 

I saw she was fumbling and groceries were tumbling.

“Why thank you, dear. You are too sweet!” 

 

“No problem at all,” I smiled and said

And carried the bags to her door. 

She stood there, amused. “I bet you’re confused 

Who all of these groceries are for... 

 

My girlfriends and I have an annual feast,

And I am the hostess this year. 

There’s more than enough. We’re bound to be stuffed. 

You must come and join us, my dear!” 

 

That evening, I wandered back down to her house,

Allured by its mystical light. 

Aromas so yummy, they tickled my tummy.

I couldn’t resist the invite…

 

Ding-dong!

 

“Hello, my sweet boy.” She welcomed me in.

“You came just in time. Have a seat!” 

The food looked diminished, as though they had finished.

So what was there still left to eat? 

 

“Dessert, anyone?” The old lady snickered.

Her girlfriends all cackled with glee. 

Their devilish eyes could not be disguised.
